Redskins Vs. Cowboys Props Too Much Of A Good Thing For Big D

There are reasons to consider the UNDER, though.

For starters, Colt McCoy is getting the nod at quarterback for Washington, which indirectly threatens Murray’s chances for a truly stellar performance. We’ve seen weird things happen in the NFL, but the odds are against McCoy, a third-string signal-caller, giving his Redskins a real chance to win. If the Cowboys are sitting on a sizeable second-half lead, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them take the foot off the pedal a bit, at least in terms of Murray’s usage. Arizona is on tap for Dallas next week in what shapes up as a battle for first place in the NFC.

Murray has shouldered 187 carries through his first seven games, a pace that would yield 427 totes on the season – a staggering total that would put him at even higher risk of getting hurt in the near future. Remember, despite his Herculean efforts this season, Murray has been the antithesis of health throughout his career. That feeds into the speculation that this matchup against an undermanned Redskins squad will be the perfect opportunity for the Cowboys to ease up a bit on their bell-cow back.

It also feeds into the decision to ride with the UNDER.

The Redskins’ run defense should also be given some credit, as it’s been solid this season, limiting opponents to 3.8 yards per carry and a respectable 103.3 yards per game.

The Sporting News Fantasy Source staff ranked Murray as its No. 1 back heading into Week 8. The lofty ranking is warranted, but still doesn’t mean bettors should aggressively go after the OVER in this case.
