Earnhardt is a diehard and engaged fan of the Washington Redskins, so when his sponsor Axalta decided to put Philadelphia Eagles colors on his ride for the Pocono 400, he was, well, hurt.

“We just announced today we’re driving a Philadelphia Eagles paint scheme at the Pocono race for Axalta. I’m really sad about that,” Earnhardt told his fan on social media. “Being a Redskins fan, it was very hard to wrap my brain around it.”

The silver lining for Earnhardt is that Axalta and the Eagles are using the race to spread the word about their joint All-Pro Teachers initiative.

“What I am happy about is helping them promote the All-Pro Teachers charity and organization that the Philadelphia Eagles have,” Earnhardt said.

He said that he even went to the Eagles website to read about the program, to which Mike Davis, director of communications at JR Motorsports, facetiously asked, “You have it bookmarked?”

“Do I have it bookmarked? No,” he replied.

The driver went on to say he hopes Redskins Nation understands.

“I hope that my Redskins pals, the fandom that I’m part of, I hope you guys don’t disown me. Anyways, HTTR – Hail To The Redskins.”

Here’s what Earnhardt’s Pocono ride looks like.
