Colt McCoy, who started four games this season after beginning the year third string, was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday with a neck injury, the Redskins announced.

Washington reportedly won’t sign a third quarterback as insurance behind Griffin and Cousins for its final two games at home against Philadelphia and Dallas — the Redskins instead promoted linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat to the 53-man roster.
Griffin replaced McCoy in Sunday’s loss to the Giants after McCoy aggravated the neck injury originally sustained in Week 14.
McCoy’s season ends with a 1-3 record as a starter, 1,057 passing yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.
