Now, Reddit is rallying around the 23-year-old, leading a campaign to vote him into the 2020 NHL All-Star Game.
The thread, posted by the user “arahn17” in the website’s “hockey community” pushes for fans to vote Lindblom into the game, to “show him all hockey fans are with him.” He then links the ballot to the Metropolitan Division vote.

Already, the thread has received 5,100 upvotes and 323 comments, many supporting the idea and voting for the Flyers forward.
“We can all vote 10 times per day,” another user by the name of “Pouletchien” posted. “That means each of us can vote a total of 60 times for Oskar Lindblom. If everyone on this subreddit participated, we would get around 51,180,000 votes. If something like 22,500 of us participate, we still could get him 1,350,000 votes … let’s make it happen guys.”
Before being diagnosed, Lindblom led the team in goals with 11 and had 18 points total over 30 games. He is expected to be out for the remainder of the season.
Ewing’s sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that affects the bones and surrounding soft tissue. The overall five-year survival rate for localized Ewing’s sarcoma is 70 percent, per the American Cancer Society.
A number of players and teams, including Mika Zibanejad among others, have posted the hashtag and are spreading the word that they are with the Gavle, Sweden, native as he battles cancer.
