The Red Sox traded outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to the Tigers for Porcello during the offseason. The 26-year-old is 76-63 in his career with a 4.30 ERA. He could have become a free agent after this season.
Those stats were helped by Porcello pitching his home games in pitcher-friendly Comerica Park. Now Porcello will be pitching in the smaller confines of Fenway Park and in front of a tough Boston crowd. The sinkerball pitcher should benefit from a better defensive unit, though.
Porcello is scheduled to make his Red Sox debut Wednesday when he starts against the Phillies.
