Outfielder Carlos Gomez, batting .306 with a .927 OPS over his previous 16 games, will miss the entire series in Arlington, Texas, with a strained intercostal muscle, GM Jeff Luhnow told the Houston Chronicle.

Gomez first felt discomfort in his ribcage during batting practice Sunday in Los Angeles, where he sat out the series finale against the Angels. He traveled back to Houston for an MRI exam and to be evaluated by team doctors. He’ll be back with the team Tuesday.
Acquired from the Brewers before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, Gomez is hitting .234/.282/.379 with four home runs and 13 RBIs in 38 games with the Astros.
