Any Red Dead Redemption 2 players attempting to unlock the Grin and Bear It achievement/trophy will want to know where bears spawn on the world map. In total, there are three kinds of bears in Red Dead Redemption 2’s Story Mode - the American Black Bear, the Grizzly Bear, and the Legendary Bharati Grizzly Bear - and there are multiple areas where players can encounter them in the game.
Here are some of the American Black Bear locations in Red Dead Redemption 2:
And here is where players will find the Grizzly Bear in Red Dead Redemption 2:
Finding the Legendary Bharati Grizzly Bear, meanwhile, is actually pretty easy, as there is a mission in Chapter 2 that leads players directly to it. Unless they decide to abandon their hunt for the creature, Red Dead Redemption 2 players will likely already have killed the beast, but if not, it can be found in this general area:
Anyone going for the Grin and Bear It achievement/trophy will want to focus on the American Black Bear and the Grizzly Bear. The encounter with the Legendary Bharati Grizzly Bear does not seem to count toward the completion of the achievement/trophy in our testing.
It’s also worth pointing out that even though the bears may spawn more frequently in the above locations, they can still spawn elsewhere on the map as well. Players can encounter a bear in many of Red Dead Redemption 2’s wooded areas, so players should always be on the lookout and properly prepared.
For anyone going bear hunting, we recommend bringing some heavy weapons along, like a sniper rifle, to make the battle a little easier. Also be sure to have Dead Eye full and ready to go to greatly increase one’s odds of actually surviving a bear encounter.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
