This treasure map has been offered as a Red Dead Redemption 2 pre-order bonus - but only for a limited time. The offer has already ended for those who want to pre-order the physical Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Edition, but for those who want a digital copy of the game, there’s still a short amount of time to secure the map.
Anyone who pre-orders Red Dead Redemption 2 by August 15 (that’s tomorrow, as of the time of writing) via the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store, will get themselves the map. Rockstar has previously described this map as an “exclusive” pre-order bonuses, suggesting that there is no other that players can get their hands on the treasure map unless they pre-order the game before tomorrow. The treasure will be likely available to all players regardless of whether they pre-ordered the game in time or not, but their quest to find it all will be that much harder.
The treasure map isn’t the only way that Rockstar is sweetening the pot for Red Dead Redemption 2 pre-orders, though. There are several other pre-order bonuses available for both digital and physical pre-orders and they don’t have timers attached to them. These are:
The War Horse (a steed with more stamina and is less likely to get scared in battle); Outlaw Survival Kit (includes boost for Dead Eye and stamina); A cash bonus (the actual figure has yet to be disclosed) and; GTA$500,000 for Grand Theft Auto Online (this is granted before Red Dead Redemption 2 is released).
Rockstar has likely designed the game in such a way that even if players don’t pre-order and start the game with these bonuses, they’ll still be able to progress normally. Though, it’s understandable if some fans do decide to take Rockstar up on its offer, especially given the new camp morale mechanic. That morale encourages players to gather resources and keep the camp in good spirits so that they don’t openly complain and will instead sing songs and share stories. That loot will help players build up their arsenals too, so that’s something worth considering too.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launches October 26 on PS4 and Xbox One.
