Luckily, Red Dead Redemption 2 has a few options for players that want to travel between locations quickly. Two of those options, trains and stage coaches are marked directly on the Red Dead map and require a little cash to activate. Players will head to a train station (the mail icons on the map) or a stagecoach area (the signpost icon) and then indicate where they want to travel.
However, there is another fast travel option that Red Dead Redemption 2 players might not be aware of since the game never fully explains it. At any of the base camps, players can use Morgan’s lodging to fast travel to locations they have visited before. Here’s how to unlock it.
Unlock Arthur’s Lodging Upgrade
First, players will need to access the Ledger at the base camp. The ledger is where Arthur Morgan can designate funds towards upgrading sections of the camp like Medical Supplies or Provisions.
Within the Ledger there is a section for Lodgings whose first entry is an upgrade for Dutch’s Lodging called “First Things First.” This upgrade will make it so members of the Dutch Van Der Linde gang contribute towards the camp’s funds in addition to Arthur’s contributions. It isn’t cheap, though, costing $220.
After purchasing the Dutch Lodging upgrade, players will unlock the ability to upgrade Arthur’s Lodging, which includes a fast travel map. Again, the upgrade is expensive (depending on how much questing and looting players have done) at $325 but it will be worth it.
Now, all players need to do is go up to the map and they can fast travel to any of the major towns, landmarks, or locations that they have visited before. This is very useful because players are usually traveling back to camp regularly, either to pick up or turn in quests or to deliver goods to boost the supplies of the camp.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One.
