For Red Dead Redemption 2 players who feel that Arthur’s head looks a little bare without his hat and want to get his accessory back, fear not. Getting the hat back doesn’t mean that players will have to wander back into the middle of a firefight or go looking through the massive field where they saw it last.
Instead, to get Arthur’s hat back, players will just need to summon their horse. Remember, the higher the horse loyalty level the further away a horse will hear Arthur’s whistle. Then, head to the horse inventory menu and look in the bottom right-hand side of the wheel. There, players will find an option to cycle through different hats (this is the third option down).
There will be three hats to choose from in total as that’s all that the horse can carry at one time. One of these will be Arthur’s Gambler’s hat (the default hat that he wears) but players can choose the other two by visiting the wardrobe area at the van der Linde gang camp hideout. You can choose to put several different outfits on the horse as well, which is helpful for planning for different weather conditions or just to switch up Arthur’s style. And it doesn’t matter when players lost it or where in Red Dead Redemption 2’s huge map that they saw it last, the horse will somehow have recovered it.
It’s important to note that this isn’t the only way that players can get themselves a hat. It’s not just Arthur’s hat that is knocked off during fistfights and shootouts; Arthur’s enemies also lose their hats during combat. This means that Arthur can actually acquire a new hat just by picking up the hat of a downed enemy. The caveat is that these hats will not be saved and stored on a horse if they go missing or if Arthur replaces them with another hat, but it is a good way to test out new looks for the cowboy.
