Nvidia announced the release date of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti along with the news of the new DLSS enabled games at its recent Computex event in Taiwan. Graphics cards are some of the most sought after electronics parts in the industry right now, and it will be interesting how many of these new 30-series cards end up with individual buyers and how many are bought up by scalping companies. The good news for Red Dead Redemption 2 players is they don’t have to have the latest graphics card to experience the benefits of DLSS.

For gamers hazy on what DLSS actually is, it stands for deep learning super sampling and uses AI technology to upscale low resolution images to appear in high resolution. It also does this without needing a ton of extra power from the CPU, which means Nvidia GPU owners are capable of experiencing a lot of old games at more modern resolution levels without buying more technology. Some other recent games to benefit from this upgrade are Crysis Remastered and Call of Duty: Warzone.
For Red Dead Redemption 2 fans, the wait won’t be too long. Although there isn’t an announced date yet for the DLSS update to release, Nvidia says it is “coming soon.” The news of DLSS support for PC players comes as yet another nugget of good news for fans of the western survival experience over the past month. In May alone, Red Dead Redemption 2 received a VR mod, benefitted from some price drops during GameStop’s Memorial Day sale, and news broke that several of the actors from the game would be happy to return for a potential sequel.
So much discussion around a game from 2018 further supports the idea that Rockstar knows how to build its games for longevity. Although Red Dead Redemption 2’s online component may not receive the same attention these days as Grand Theft Auto Online, it still boasts a ton of loyal fans. Rockstar’s attention to detail when crafting its wild west has not gone unnoticed, inspiring a generation of Red Dead Redemption 2 gamers hunting for details in nearly every aspect of the game. DLSS may just enhance the experience of searching even more and keep players tuned into Rockstar’s world.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
