Posted on the Red Dead Redemption subreddit, a user by the name of TheElusiveMan posted captured gameplay from Red Dead Redemption 2 that was initially seemingly innocuous. In fact, the NPC’s reaction was triggered by nothing more than the player barely running and bumping into a female NPC.

The game capture starts with an NPC greeting the player. From there, the player attempts to enter a locked house, while a separate female NPC walks close by. After giving up on entering the home, the player takes off in a direction, evidently pushing over the female character. The female character gathers herself, walks directly up to the player, and smacks him across the face. The entire interaction between the player and the NPC is capped off with some great back and forth between the two characters.
The responses to the post quickly became curious and wondered if the player could die if their health was low enough. While no video had been posted of said event, many users quickly confirmed that a smack could, in fact, kill the player if their health was sufficiently depleted. This led to a number of comments displaying “F” to pay respects.
With games as expansive as Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s easy to see how even the smallest of interactions can be missed in the hours of gameplay. The world is so huge, and yet, the attention to detail in the game has been widely praised. From the human interactions to even just the shell casings on a fired bullet, Red Dead Redemption 2 has a tendency to show off in even the smallest ways.
As stated, Red Dead Redemption 2 is in its third year since release, and players are still finding interesting interactions and details that weren’t initially discovered by many. The game is currently running a promotional sale on Steam for 33% off, as well as being sold on GameStop’s website for 50% off physical copies for PS4 and Xbox One. Players interested in the gritty western sandbox that is Red Dead Redemption 2 can discover what exactly other players are talking about for themselves.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
