Red Dead Redemption 2’s Day One Title Update officially weighs in at 3.30 GB on PS4 worldwide (3.02 GB for Japan) and 3.2 GB for Xbox One worldwide (2.9 GB for Japan). The studio urges players to download the Day One patch before playing, as the file will provide the game with “a range of across-the-board improvements and bug fixes for optimal performance”.

For those who want to find out whether or not they have the correct and most up-to-date version of Red Dead Redemption 2 so that the game runs at peak performance, all one has to do is hit the Settings menu and look for Build 1116.8 in the bottom left hand corner. Should players want to always ensure their consoles have the latest version for RDR2–or any other release, for that matter–simply enable automatic updates from the PS4 and Xbox One’s settings.

All things considered, it’s safe to say that Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are preparing themselves for a full weekend of exploring what Rockstar has said is the studio’s largest map ever created, and what many critics are calling a new benchmark for higher standards in open world games. With this being the case, one can only hope that RDR2’s Day One patch successfully addresses as many bugs and glitches as possible so as to provide RDR2 with a smooth launch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
