Now, one YouTuber known as Kush Qrox, who has unearthed other bits of Red Dead Redemption 2 cut content, may have found another quest line removed from the game. This quest is one that players will likely find within the epilogue, involving a fisherman named Jeremy Gill. While Arthur can meet Gill, the fisherman tasks the player with catching all of Red Dead Redemption 2’s legendary fish, meaning the player would have to travel to the Blackwater and New Austin areas of the game, which is only possible as John.

However, according to Kush Qrox, the Red Dead Redemption 2 quest tied to Gill originally would have allowed players to complete the whole thing as Arthur, allowing the outlaw to travel to Blackwater and New Austin, even while he is a wanted man there. A newly uncovered cutscene shows that Arthur would meet with Jeremy Gill and be given the task of collecting a fish from Rio Bravo, a place left effectively inaccessible to the former. The cutscene leaves Arthur standing by a lake in New Austin, implying that those areas could’ve been accessible to him.

Usually, if a player tries to access Blackwater as Arthur in Red Dead Redemption 2, they will immediately be pursued by law enforcement until they are killed or leave the area. This makes those areas inaccessible until the player takes on the role of John Marston. However, according to the cut content, it may have been the case that the player could have accessed Blackwater and New Austin much earlier.

However, it may also be the case that Rockstar believed allowing Arthur to journey to those areas to catch some fish may have broken up some of the narrative in Red Dead Redemption 2, as it wouldn’t make sense that Arthur would suddenly be able to venture to Blackwater as a wanted man from the very beginning of the game. Considering the story of Red Dead Redemption 2 is highly regarded among gamers, it may be for the best that this content was cut, saving the fishing quest mostly for John.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
