Many entertaining moments have occurred in Red Dead Redemption 2, some being instances embedded in mechanics or gameplay design, while others come from rare, isolated incidents. Further, many interactions players happen upon are more comical than others, as there are numerous bugs and other exploits in Red Dead Redemption 2 that players have discovered since launch. Besides, exploiting said bugs and glitches may conveniently added shelf life to Red Dead Redemption 2.

Though fans continue discovering new, intended details in Red Dead Redemption 2, a brief gameplay clip posted to r/reddeadredemption demonstrates a humorous advantage of Red Dead Redemption 2’s AI shortcomings in under half a minute. The clip begins with the player interacting with an NPC, whom they instantly antagonize. Protagonist Arthur Morgan and the stranger share a quick exchange of hostile banter before entering into a fight that ends with a surprising and hilarious kick performed through a glitch.
Whether because of an unprecedented input error or a bold and unpredictable exploit, the Red Dead Redemption 2 video’s highlight moment does not arrive until Arthur leaps into the air and can be seen entering an animation which would have him grab the building’s scaffolding above. It then appears as though the player cancels the ledge-grabbing animation into a mid-air front kick, which glitches the climbing animation into an attack animation that occurs when the character is leaping down from higher ground.
The spontaneous fight suddenly sees a dynamic transition from rugged fisticuff bravado to what appears to be a leaping karate kick, and Arthur’s kick has already earned him comparisons to the unique crane kick from The Karate Kid (1984). Of course, with the crane kick not purposely existing in Red Dead Redemption 2, its resemblance is simply portrayed through an entertaining animation glitch. The kick is certainly not a secret mechanic, although there are many Red Dead Redemption 2 secrets still undiscovered by many players.
It is apparent from the janky character model animations Arthur experiences that the eccentric tact the player employs is unnatural. Players are thus capable of feats that are not necessarily intended while randomly experimenting with Red Dead Redemption 2’s mechanics. Fans may expect bug fixes if Red Dead Redemption 2 is eventually available on the current generation of consoles, but the clip would suggest that fans find charm in the game’s humorous glitches nonetheless and enjoy experimenting with the game’s mechanics anyhow.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
