A recent example is a clip that seems innocent enough at first, but quickly turns into an aggressive Red Dead Redemption 2 altercation. The clip starts with the player tabbed out of the game, looking at a guide that shows the locations of collectible cigarette cards. However, the clip quickly takes a turn for the confusing and dastardly when the player tabs back in and immediately strangles an innocent old woman to death, right in the middle of the Saint Denis saloon.

The player in question, Reddit user TMSharkie, claimed that clicking back into the game must have registered a left click input, leading to them accidentally attacking the Red Dead Redemption 2 NPC. They also said they have no idea how they even attacked the old woman since they weren’t even facing in her direction. However, the clip shows TMSharkie tabbing back into the game and immediately committing a murder.

Reddit users thought the clip was hilarious. One user said that TMSharkie must be craving those cigarette cards badly, to which TMSharkie replied they were experiencing withdrawal at the time of the murder. Another user imagined how court proceedings would go, commenting “I swear Your Honor, it was an accident.” TMSharkie continued the joke, commenting, “She was sitting there… menacingly… I had to do something about it, your honor!” Many other comments cracked jokes about times they killed Red Dead Redemption 2 NPCs, such as one commenter who claimed they “accidentally” shot a man who beat them in a game of poker.

Perhaps the funniest part of the Red Dead Redemption 2 clip is the dialogue and actions of the NPCs watching the murder happen. Right before TMSharkie commits the murder, one man is heard saying “bonjour,” and immediately after this, TMSharkie kills the NPC. Then, as TMSharkie kills the woman, two NPCs shout “help me” and “I cannot bear this cross;” clearly, those two NPCs are quite worried about their own necks. However, perhaps the best part of the video is the fact that the piano player continues playing throughout the ordeal.

TMSharkie’s clip was, in a word, chaos. Random moments and clips like these are what truly set open world games apart from the pack and make for incredibly funny and memorable moments.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
