To sell horses in Red Dead Redemption 2’s Red Dead Online mode, players need to head to the Stables, which are located in various towns around the world map. Speak to the man running the stables, and then choose the Manage Owned Horses option. From there, players can select whatever horse they want to sell.
Unfortunately, there is currently no way to sell stolen or wild horses in Red Dead Online at the time of this writing. Players are only able to sell horses that they already own, which has been the source of some controversy since online went live last week. Many are pointing to the inability to sell stolen or wild horses as yet another way that Red Dead Online’s economy needs some serious work before it exits the beta phase.
In the meantime, virtually all other horse management takes place at the stables, so some players will be making frequent visits. If they have the cash, they can buy new horses from the stables, and they can also insure their horses. Insuring horses works similarly to buying car insurance in Grand Theft Auto Online, and it’s basically a way for players to recover their damaged horses.
Horse stables are just one way that Red Dead Online streamlines some of the features seen in the main game. We see something similar when it comes to hunting animals and selling their pelts, as all pelts are taken to the same place in Red Dead Online. Instead of players having to make special visits to the trapper, they just have to take any pelts they have to local butchers.
So the convenience of the stables may be enough to make some players happy, even though they are currently unable to sell any stolen or wild horses in Red Dead Online.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
