However, it seems not everything in the latest update for Red Dead Online was entirely positive for the playing experience. Many Reddit users are creating posts on the official Red Dead Online subreddit detailing issues with the game’s horse AI following the Naturalist update.

The Naturalist update added a new major role to the game but also fixed many issues that players have been having with the game. The July 28 update patch notes detail the full list of new content and game adjustments that were made, and there was a lot that was fixed. However, it seems that a few issues may have slipped through the cracks or even been made worse following the update. Many players have reported issues with horse AI in Red Dead Online following the update.
Horse AI in Red Dead Online was never the smoothest function of the game, but it seems they may have been made dumber following the update. One Reddit user asks, “Is it just me or are horses even dumber than usual since the update?” The post details the question further saying that they’ve had issues with horses being unable to jump and even navigate around objects. The post has over 20 comments with users experiencing similar problems. It seems some fans are not happy with the Naturalist update, as it’s made horses far harder to control and even use.
Other posts have populated the subreddit detailing issues with horses, with one player even showing a video of a horse literally disappearing out from under them while riding it. Additionally, plenty of posts detail problems like horses not showing up or moving when whistled for and even just running away after dismounting for no reason. Of course, players can always purchase horse insurance in Red Dead Online but it’s still very annoying having horses simply not function properly.
Of course, not every single player is experiencing these same issues with horses in the game. However, there are still plenty of people corroborating the issues other players have had with horses following newest Naturalist patch for Red Dead Online. Hopefully, Rockstar with roll out some sort of quick fix for the horse AI sometime in the near future.
