From 1998 to 2004, the Blade franchise was quite successful, with Wesley Snipes taking on the lead and titular role. In it, Blade was a Dhampir, or half-vampire, who alongside his mentor and a hematologist hunts and fights vampires. This franchise, many will argue, set up Marvel’s future film success and set a strong foundation for future comic book adaptations, with this movie series developing a strong cult following, as well as Wesley Snipes as Blade.

As such, it’s big news that Blade is returning for the MCU (although with Mahershala Ali in the lead role instead of Snipes), but Snipes’ take on the character is still held in high esteem, even in the Red Dead Online community. As seen below, one Redditor known as HeySoloSoyYo designed their Red Dead character to look like Wesley Snipes’ Blade and it’s almost spot-on.
Sure, there are a few missing elements like Blade’s tattoos, but most of his character is nailed down from his glasses down to his vest. According to HeySoloSoyYo, this was done without any Red Dead Online mods (or anything of that sort) and was instead just created by him. It’s had a strong reception in the community thus far, accumulating 7500+ upvotes in less than 24 hours.
A few Redditors also had quite a bit of fun with the idea of Blade in the Red Dead Redemption world. Many were quick to point out that Blade could theoretically fit, given that the Vampire of Saint Denis exists too. Others, meanwhile, just had a lot of fun quoting the classic movies, and many more also commented on how well the design looked.
Either way, for both Blade and Red Dead Redemption, the future looks bright. Blade may be getting a new lead actor with his intro into the MCU, but it will indubitably be compared to Wesley Snipes’ character. The reboot of sorts may do well if it can live up to those expectations. Red Dead Redemption 2, on the other hand, just turned three years old, and whereas many games might fall off within that time, RDR2 is clearly still going strong.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
