The Red Dead Online character creator has long been a great source of entertainment for players, with players using it to get really immersed in the multiplayer version of the popular Old West game. There have been all sorts of different models built over the years, pulling from movies, television, comics, and other games. However, it doesn’t appear there have been a ton of creations done that pull from the world of Tintin before now.

Now one Redditor has grabbed one of the more popular side characters from The Adventures of Tintin in the form of Captain Haddock and made what appears to be the spitting image using the rather impressive character creator tool from RDO. The user - Turaidh - actually left it up to other members of the social media site to figure out exactly who they had created by making the caption a clue to the person’s identity.
While there are enough people out there that are fans of Tintin that the character, it appears that the quote as a caption was obscure enough that it took a bit of time before someone caught on. “Billions of bilious blue blistering barnacles in a thundering typhoon!” the caption read, borrowing one of the most famous translated phrases from the French comic strip. Eventually, someone did catch on and asked if no one else had ever read The Adventures of Tintin books or strips enough to know that it was indeed supposed to be Captain Haddock.
Alongside the caption were a couple of pictures of this version of Captain Haddock, with one standing on what looked like the deck of a boat holding a pair of binoculars. A second photo showed the character holding a bottle of alcohol - something the Tintin character is well known for - and the third is the seafarer gesturing and yelling, perhaps even saying the very phrase that came along with the pictures.
It might seem as though a sea faring captain from The Adventures of Tintin would be an odd fit for the game, but there have certainly been other people who seemed to enjoy putting random people into the game because of the odd fits. The Red Dead Online character creator has been used to plant real life rappers like 50 Cent and nightmare monsters like Freddy Krueger into the game, so Captain Haddock is hardly the weirdest iteration.
Red Dead Online is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
