Rockstar Games has announced that anyone who has participated in the Red Dead Online beta will receive 15 gold bars in-game, which can be used to buy weapons and to unlock rank-locked gear, among other things. It’s Rockstar Games’ way of showing appreciation for players spending time and energy trying out the beta and leaving comprehensive feedback for the developer to act upon.
Players who haven’t logged into Red Dead Redemption 2’s online beta yet won’t be left out in the cold if they act quickly. Rockstar will offer the bonus to anyone who logs into Red Dead Online between now and December 20th. According to the developer, the gold rewards are already being sent out to players who have already played the beta, but gamers who are joining in now can expect to get the gift no later than December 24th.
Rockstar has been busy addressing concerns regarding Red Dead Online’s in-game economy, and has recently made adjustments increasing the monetary and gold rewards for completing missions. Gamers should find it a bit easier to grind for in-game gold at this point, although players who want to quickly acquire gold bars can buy them with real cash instead. As of this time, Rockstar Games has no intention of resetting players’ progress in Red Dead Online’s beta when transitioning to the finished online title, so players don’t have to scramble to spend their freebie gold bars.
Red Dead Online has received mixed responses so far from players, although as the game mode is still in beta, significant improvements are still expected to be made. Rockstar Games is well versed in online gaming at this point with years of experience with Grand Theft Auto Online. Based on the outrageous popularity of GTA Online, Red Dead Online is likely to experience similar success, so long as Rockstar can meet players’ expectations.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
