The Rockstar Games Twitter account shared on January 3 that Red Dead Online fans have a plethora of excuses to log into the game for the month of January. While there are several Red Dead Online players that continue to enjoy the online cowboy experience, others have given up on it due to a lack of content updates for over a year and Rockstar Games itself confirming that the big patches have already been released. Some Red Dead Online players have left the game for other pastures since this confirmation, but Rockstar Games’ alternative experience GTA Online continues to go strong with regular updates and a recent expansion called The Contract.

Red Dead Online players will experience a boost to RDO$ and XP on trader and moonshiner sales, naturalist free roam events, Il Sovrano Blood Money opportunities, and more. The trader and moonshiner RDO$ and XP will be doubled for January, the naturalist free roam event benefits will be tripled in the time frame, and gold will be increased by double with the other rewards in Il Sovrano Blood Money endeavors. Red Dead Online players that participate in gang hideouts will see the biggest change with the January update as they will earn four times as much experience as usual until January 30.

The Red Dead Online January festivities begin today with the black and white version of the Sobol Hat, and Naturalist benefits to role levels and wildlife photography free roam events. Each day that players log in, they will receive rewards for Red Dead Online Capitale, weight gain and weight loss tonics, a blue Inglett Scarf for any Clearing House crime, and a gold bar and Civil War battlefield treasure map for completing any Legendary Bounty. More goodies start to roll out on January 10 when collector role ranks and items are improved, a weekly collection with Madam Nazar that offers a black and brown version of the Fernwater Coat, and a deal with the Butcher for collecting salvage.

For the fans that continue playing Red Dead Online despite the lack of content patches, Rockstar Games may be able to draw some returning players with bonuses offered in this January celebration. Though Rockstar Games has said that Red Dead Online is content complete, some Red Dead Redemption fans continue to speculate on the future of the franchise as GTA 6 has been confirmed.

Red Dead Online is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
