Rockstar has released updates for Red Dead Online throughout 2020, though a lack of meaningful new content earlier this year caused some fans to become frustrated. The developer responded by releasing July’s Naturalist update and October’s Halloween event, both to initially mixed reaction. The game’s userbase still pales in comparison to GTA Online, leading Rockstar to switch up their strategy when it comes to releasing new content. Whereas GTA’s updates tend to be designed to draw in new users, Red Dead’s are more focused on keeping dedicated fans playing.

This strategy continues in the game’s latest update, which rewards Traders 25 Trader Goods and Moonshiners one Mash refill for simply logging on before November 9. Completing a Trader or Moonshiner mission before that date will also net players a free treasure map. Players who reach Rank 5 or higher in any given role before November 9 will also get a free horse, but the steed is limited to Rank 40 or lower.

The update arrives with new sales as well, including a stable sale of 30 percent off horses for players who might be looking to bolster their collection. There are also new outfits and clothing editions to the catalogue, including items such as the Tasman Outfit, Benbow Jacket, Morning Tail Coat, and the Danube Outfit, among other clothing items. Players may want to act fast in picking up the new gear, as they will be available for a limited time.

Red Dead Online’s latest update may fall short of the full-on expansion that some fans were hoping for, but it still gives them a good reason to keep playing the game. It is also free, so any player can log in to receive the loot.

Red Dead Online is available on PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One.
